My Story
I joined Curves 1 1/2 years ago because my sister made me. I am 39 years old and I have Downs Syndrome. I also suffer from sleep apnea, a thryroid problem and arthritis. I am 4'9" in height and when I started at Curves I weighed 260 pounds. I am close to reaching my 200 workout mark. I have lost 68 pounds, 50 inches and 7% body fat. I love all my friends at Curves. Me and my husband will be married 16 years on July thirty-one. I have a new job - Tuesday and Thursday 12 to 4. Twenty-five bucks a week. I do laundry, make beds, get the mail and run errands.

Member comments and observations: She is an inspriation to all of us. Watching her workout, we see her joy in the simplest accomplishment. She doesn't know how to beat herself up. She's very dedicated and punctual - Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am. She has a jolly personality and she brightens our days. She is loving and caring of all Curves members.

Final comments by the owner: Speaking with her sister and mother, changes were critical to her life. Her health and well-being were in jeopardy and life expectancy two years ago was just that - two years. When she first started she could not get off the machines or up from the stretch mats. Curves staff diligently followed her around the circuit to help her get off the machines. It took 2-3 months before she could get off on her own. And then she was on her way! Not only was she working out idependently, she also provided us with some great dance moves on the recovery pads and her signing - that's another story. With Curves teaching her how to exercise and reinforce nutrition we will have her around (we are hoping) for a long time to come. She is truly an Amazing Member.
