My Story
My story:I am a 62 year old lady that has had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 32 years. I come from a family where there are many health issues. My father passed away 70 some years old from a massive heart attack. I am a very determined person and when I commit to do something I do it right.
In April of 2005 my sister and daughter wanted me to join Curves with them. I was skeptical and a little scared that maybe it would bother my arthritis. We went over and Robin Brandenburg the owner met with us and she was very optimistic that it would help my arthritis, so we joined. One of the best decisions I have made in my life!
Robin had us get on the circuit and walked us through the workout. After catching on I looked forward to Monday, Wednesday and Friday so I could go work out.
Since I have been going to Curves I have lost almost 40 pounds and my Rheumatologist is very pleased with my joints and bone density test. He told me to keep doing what I was doing.
Curves is a place where I feel like is part of my family. I have met a lot of old friends and new friends. We have bonded together. It is a good clean atmosphere where you can totally concentrate on being a woman.
We have had many contests, camps, and we weigh and measure each month. We are all there to help each other. We have helped the American cancer society, taken up food for food pantries and mittens for headstart children.
The four years I have been a member I have visited other Curves on vacations. I have earned my 700 workout shirt and I have a perfect attendance for at least 3 years straight. I want to be a good example and a role model for others. I try to stay active and even on days I don't feel good I still go work out. This is a part of my life.
Robin and the staff are the BEST! Always ready to help others and encourage each and every one of us. We all go through our ups and downs together. We can do it as a team and individually. Good clean Christian atmosphere. I am an amazing member!
