My Story
283 lbs. Sore ankle, even more sore knees! Ankle and knee replacements?? Hey, wait! Wasn't there some other way?? There's got to be another way.
That was me 3 years ago. I was becoming less and less active as I became heavier and heavier. And, as long as I had clothes that fit, what was the problem?
But, there was a problem and if I wanted to save my life, I had to make a lifestyle change. And, that meant 'getting up and moving'.
I joined Curves thinking I would only go 2 times a week. And, to make sure I would go straight home after working out and not visit the local, 4 doors down donut shop afterwards, I wore bright yellow shorts, big red top, and equally bright socks. I did't expect to see any big difference.
It will come as no surprise that I started to feel different before I started to see a difference. And, the staff at Curves would work with me 'ramping' things up, a bit at a time. The women there were equally supportive! It became fun to work out and then it became a part of my lifestyle.
One change brings another and I changed the way I ate and you know, I changed the way I looked at things overall. Change came from the inside out and it started at Curves.
I will admit, there's plenty of times I didn't want to work out, but afterwards, I'm glad I did. There are weeks I gained weight, but the group at Curves just kept me going.
Today? I've lost over 120 lbs, gone from a size 3x to as 12/14, wear actual workout clothes (because the local donut shop has nothing for me!) and workout 4-5 times a week.
I think my most gratifying moment came when I saw my sister in law for the first time in 2 years. She didn't know I had been losing weight and saw me and asked "Where's the rest of you?" Yes, I had changed and changed for the better!!
Thanks to Curves for saving my life.
