My Story
I am an amazing member.
I grew up in the NYC projects poor, now I am rich, but not money rich, Rich with life...
Right after high school my dream was to be a fashion illustrator, and I worked very hard at having my dream. I worked as a fashion Illustrator starting at age 18. I loved my job and couldnt believe that I was getting paid for what I loved to do.
Later in life I worked freelance because I lived in the suburbs and started a family.
Once my younger child went to College, I too decided to go to College. I realized that the art field had changed. There was not much work out there for artists who did not have computer skills, so I went back full time and, boy, was that the hardest thing I ever did. But I got through, and graduated with honors.
Then I was diagnosed with a rare cancer called: Gist, (Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor). I had surgery and was told this kind of rare cancer often returns and chemotherapy does not work. I survived the surgery and one year later joined "CURVES" to get fit. Since joining Curves 5 years ago, I lost weight and re-shaped my body. I go 3 to 4 times a week, consistently. My Cancer has never come back; I was told it probably wont come back.
My art career has taken off and I have been on talk radio, had art shows in NYC, and one of my paintings is now traveling the country for two years.
My business partner and I have a utility Patent, copyright, and logo that we are taking forward.
I have been written up in the NY Times talking about the injustice of billing when you are sick and what you have to go through. I was quoted as the quote of the day in the NY Times.
I am an artist, graphic designer, inventor, mother, wife, grandmother, cancer survivor and Curves member! Curves made me strong!
Here is my background you can take a look and see why I am so amazing!
