My Story
In January of 1994 I had my first back surgery. After this surgery my weight went over 300 lb. I then had an intestonal by-pass surgery in July of 1997, because the Dr seemed to think weight loss would help my back problem. I often tell people that a switch was turned on, and I lost 100 lbs, then the switch was turned off. I then had another surgery on my back in December 1998. After this I had my left hip replaced in May of 2005. At that time I was put on full disablility and am now receiving Social Security Disability. I then had my third back surgery and Titanium Rods put in from my braline to the bottom of my spine. I haven't been able to really do any exercise (i.e. walking) since my first back surgery. In August of 2007 I decided to try going to Curves. I have never looked back. In my opinion the recovery boards with the little feet on them makes there no jarring on my back. I am able to do the full circuit @ my Curves. Over this length of time I have made my workout more challenging by caring weights in my hands. I currently am using 8 lb weights in each hand to make my circuit harder. This is working for me. In the past 7 months I have lost 30 lbs. I am now down to 170 lb and plan on going to 125. We live rural and have a large yard and large garden. With great determination I can say I can work in both. It isn't that I don't have some pain, however I will say if I'm having some pain I go to Curves and work it out.
