My Story
In October 2001 I was hit on my Harley, I sustained some injuries, consequently it set my Rheumatoid Arthritis in a forward mode. Over the next three years I had shoulder surgery, reconstructive work done on my left foot because of the injuries sustained in the accident, and lower back surgery. I was diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis as well as the Rheumatoid, Degenerative Disc Disease, and Osteo Pina. I had to start taking some strong drugs to remiss the Rheumatoid. The cartilage in both my knees totally deteriorated so I get injections to help lubricate the joints and cut down on the grinding, popping and some of the pain. I call it my lube job!!
I was in great shape, 51, toned and defined at the time of the accident. Since then I became less active because of the pain, injuries and diseases, so my weight slowly crept up. In 2008 my husband had to work out of state for 11 months, I was miserable with him gone, the good ole comfort foods kept calling my name, unfortunately, I answered with a big yes. Of course we all know the result of that one, I just got bigger and more miserable.
The first of this year I decided it was time to do something about it, I need to be healthier and active. I want to be around for a long time to watch my 11 year old son grow up like his older brothers and sister, play with my 5 grandkids, future ones and great grandchildren. I started walking on the treadmill everyday, slowly building up to an hour at a time. I went to Curves on February 17th this year after losing the first 9 pounds. I weighed in at 191 and the dreaded measurements were taken. I signed on the dotted line for a year on February 24th with total commitment and determination to get back into the size 6 wardrobe I have hidden away. I told my husband I intend to have my old sixpack abs back for my 60th birthday which is less than a year and a half away! Oh my! Old? Never!
Well ladies, I have worked my buns off through the pain, lost 11 pounds, 11 inches, lowered my Body Fat 2.90%, and lowered my BMI 1.83 in the first month. Took biggest loser for the month of March at my Curves. Month number 2 came along, another 10 pounds, 9.50 inches, lowered my Body Fat another 2.00%, and lowered my BMI 1.66. I am pleased to say I took biggest loser of the month again for April. WOW!! that feels so good!!
Come on ladies work it, catch up to me!!
Okay now, month number three, 10 pounds, 11 inches, lowered my Body Fat another 1.50% and lowered my BMI 1.66. Well, you guessed it, biggest loser for May as well. Now it is the 1st of June, I found out I have been an inspiration to many at the Ridge Manor Curves, they have asked me how to do it. I am very happy to take the time to help any of them out, after all, if I can do it anyone can. I tell them simply, dedication is a must, having a zest for life, believing in yourself will make you soar to the top! Do Not Diet, eat healthy for life, start slow on the workouts, build them up as you can or you will stay in a slump. Work hard and sweat lots!! Smiling all the time helps too.
I have told Phyllis the owner of my Curves that I intend to be the Biggest Loser for 2009 there. Am I doing it for the honor? Shoot NO!!! I am doing it because I will have reached my personal goal for the year! I am well on my way, you can do it too, stay tough and carry on, I will be looking for you.
Please vote for me, I need the money for a makeover: hair, makeup, clothes, you know the inportant stuff.
Too date now I have lost 47 pounds and over 35 inches, well on my way to the size 6!!
Thank you, Diane "Rose"
