My Story
This is my AMAZING curves story. I have always been overweight. In 2003 after experiencing some health problems, I had reached my heaviest weight ever. I was unable to walk to the end of my driveway without being exhausted. It was than that I realized I needed to make some changes in my life. Over the next 5 years I played back and forth with 20 pounds.
On New Years Day 2007, I made a resolution to myself that I was finally going to make some real changes. I started walking, making it 2 driveways from my house. Over the next year I progressed to walking over a mile a day. With eating healthy and walking I lost 134 pounds. Than in July 2008 at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver. I was also told I would soon need a liver transplant. My BMI could be no more than 40 to be eligable for the transplant. My BMI was still at 56. I had reached a plateau, and needed to change things.
In November 2008, I made that walk through the doors of curves. I was greeted by a very happy and friendly curves employee. All my reservations had been put to rest. I saw people of all ages and all sizes working out. The 30 minute workout fit into my schedule great.
As I kept eating healthy and going to curves, the weight and inches started to come off. The other members and staff became my personal cheerleaders. In the 7 months since I started curves, I've lost an additional 49 pounds and 21.25 inches. My body fat also dropped by 29.07. As of June 11, 2009 my BMI is at 40. I am happy to say I have been placed on the transplant list.
I know that if it were not for curves, the staff and the new friends I have made this would have been a much harder journey. This is why I think I am the most AMAZING curves member.
