MY STORY
My name is Carol Dixon. Im 68 years old. I lived a healthy and active life till 2003. My Doctors in 1995 diagnosed me with Primary Billery Cirrhosis of the Liver. I was on the liver list for 3 years in Ann Arbors University of Michigan. I never qualified for a cadaver liver. My Doctor said we needed to look for a living donor. My grandson, Jason Amble, matched me 100%. On January 26, 2006, I had my liver transplant. Jason gave me 60% of his liver. God bless Jason! The transplant was a success! Its been a long road back. Today I am healthy and doing real good. I have to keep active. I joined Curves April 11 of 2009. My doctors want me to exercise and I found that Curves meets that need. My Doctors are happy with Curves and what it has done for me. My saying is (God made me and Curves maintains me. The Curves staff is just great, they give me the encouragement to continue to work hard. I work out 5 days a week. Since joining Curves I have lost 8lbs, 10 3/4", 1.8%B.F. & 6#B.F. My energy level has improved greatly. My husband has noticed a big difference in my attitude and especially my body. He encourages me to come to Curves every day. He said he can "Feel" the difference in my waistline and hips. I wish I had joined Curves a long time ago! What a difference it has made in my life.
I also talk for The Gift of Life. I tell my story so others can see that organ transplants do work and will now encourage them about the importance of exercise after recovery(especially about Curves).
