My Story
In November 1996, I had a heart attack at the age of 47. I quit smoking after 30 years and two packs a day. Then I started gaining weight; food tasted better. My husband kept telling me that I needed to lose weight, but I wasn't ready to hear that.
In January 2007, I stopped by Curves in Stayton to check it out. I thought 'I could do this' but wasn't sure I could commit to doing it the three days a week that is recommended. (You see, I live in a small town in the mountains 45 miles East of the Stayton Curves.) I went home and talked to my husband about joining Curves. I would use my own money to pay the dues. He was so pleased that I was willing to do something to improve my health, that he pays my dues every month. My first month at Curves, I didn't lose any weight, but I did lose 11 1/2 inches! That was what kept me going!
I have been going to Curves "three days a week", since January 2007. In the past two years I have only missed going to Curves 4 or 5 days. I missed those days because we had over 15 feet of snow and I couldn't get out to go. I am still trying to lose weight, but I know I am getting healthier every month. Every time I go to Curves the Smart Machines let me know how much better I am doing.
Most of the time I look forward to going to Curves (some times I dislike the drive) and enjoy all the new friends I have met there. I try very hard not to miss even one day. I love the Smart Machines and like to see how much better I do every time I go. I know I'm getting healthier as I feel healthier.
