My Story
I had been overweight since about the age of 10 or 11. I never really liked this fact but always assumed that there was nothing that I could do about it. After joining Curves in December of 2006 I slowly lost weight over the year, a total of about 10 pounds. But in November of 2007 my father passed. I quit going to curves until February 2008. During this time, I gained 18 pounds! This brought me up to 208 pounds. I didnt want to keep carrying extra weight around with me so I finally decided that I should truly do something about it. Plus in December of 2008 I got engaged! Exciting but I do want to look good in my wedding dress like any other bride.
It was rough the first couple of months, I assumed I could eat better by myself and start shedding weight. My weight loss journey did not officially start until May of 2008. It was at this time that I began to keep my food journal and truly pay attention to what I ate and what calories I was burning through exercise. Here I am one year later, and what have I accomplished? On the anniversary of my weight loss journey, May 20, 2009, I had lost a total of 61.5 pounds! Along with that I shed 54.75 inches, and lost 42.12, or 12.8% of my body fat. Right now I have continued to lose and have lost a total of 65 pounds. This is such a wonderful accomplishment and I am so proud of myself.
I am almost at my goal, only a few more pounds to go. Though, I feel so much better already. I do find that I have more energy, and I am glad that for the first time I can say that Im of normal weight. Now that I have a smaller body I can wear other things besides baggy pants and jeans. Maybe this is only exciting for me because I just turned 20 in January, but it makes me feel like a normal 20 year old. One of the biggest milestones, I am able to wear a bikini now! It is taking some getting used to. But I am just trying to enjoy this new life that I have not gotten to experience before.
My wedding will be in December of 2010, and I want to be at my maintenance weight when I get my dress. I know I have the tools I need to succeed at maintaining. I am even more excited about buying my dress, and I think I even know what I want to buy. I know I will look gorgeous, and I worked so hard to look good in that dress. I have come so far in a year, and I am looking forward to what lies ahead for me. Just wait until you see me in my wedding gown, I will look AMAZING!
