My Story
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in October, 2003. After the shock and worry about how I was going to control this THING had wore off and I settled into the nightly routine of shots, I read all I could about how to take care of myself and to stay healthy. Exercise came up in everything that I read, I needed to find an exercise program that would work without putting to much strain on my body and without raising my body temperature to much, Curves had that program.
I joined Curves in November of 2005, I went through all the motions of working out 3 times a week sometimes more, I thought just because I was working out I could eat whatever and when ever I wanted, but at the same time my weight was creeping up along with the size I wore. I was starting to have buy a 18, I soon found out I was lying to myself. We had family pictures taken for the church directory in August of 2006 ( I hate having my picture taken.) I thought I took a pretty decent picture, until they came back, that same week, I stepped on the scale at Curves, and I was devastated. I was close to that number that I never wanted to be at, 200 pounds. I was 190
I was ready to quit, I was crying as I did my workout and most defiantly I was going to quit. I expressed my unhappiness to the lady working that night, but before I left she talked to me and said, she would like me to try something for 2 weeks and see what happens, I reluctantly agreed. She showed me a Curves manual with the different diet plans, I worked the one we looked at together. I did it for 2 weeks and ended up losing 12 pounds. That was just my starting point. After 1 year, I had lost 30 pounds and 32 inches, I am still trying to get to my magic number of 150. To date I am at 153. I have 3 more pounds to loose to be that magic number.
The best of all is, Im the healthiest I have ever been in my life, even with the M S. I feel the best I have ever felt and I made a lot of new friends. Without the guidance and tools I got from the people at Curves, I dont think I could have done this on my own. I am still working out at Curves and now harder than ever. They now have the Curves Smart, so I feel my workout is even more intense.
