My Story
I have yo-yoed with my weight all my life. In 2004, at the age of 64, I had a bleed out on the brain, which also caused two Seizures, and I was in intensive care for weeks, touch and go. In all I was in the hospital for over a month. I had to learn to walk and reason and learn cognitive skills all over. After 8 months of therapy and much medication I was finally given an ok from my neurologist to drive a car again. This was the one thing that worried me the most as my husband is handicapped and can't drive. It is my responsibility to do everything for us. It was very hard on us and my daughter who was at my side through the whole thing. One of the medications that they gave me for Seizures also helped me to loose weight and I was down to wearing size 12's from 20 & 22s. I was happier than I had been in years. Then they decided that the medicine was causing me some so side affects and changed me to another drug. Right away my weight spiraled back up and I became very depressed. I was hospitalized for weeks, which left my husband home alone again. I am much better and last year after seeing a program on Channel 11 in Houston on Curves, the next day I joined. I am loosing slowly, but as of last month I had lost 12 pounds and 23 inches. I know that loosing slowly will help me to keep it off and at 68 I am learning better eating habits. It proofs that it is never too late to learn. I am so Happy and Love going to my Curves. It is right in my neighborhood and it so nice to have it close to home. I recommend Curves to everyone I meet. Thanks Curves to putting me on the right track. You have done more for me than all the meds I have taken; as a matter of fact I have even stopped taking one of the depression meds. Thats something else you can boast about, Curves helps stop depression.
