My Story
Curves has become my new best friend forever (BFF)!

To begin at the beginning.I was a naysayer about Curves for years and always belonged to fancy health clubs and spas and took part in each new class they offered. My concept of Curves was machines and heavyset ladies. I have never been a fan of weight machines and Ive always been slim.

Two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer and had to take a leave from my current health club while undergoing chemo and radiation treatments. After completing my therapy and being pronounced a cancer survivor, I couldnt seem to get myself motivated to go back to the health club scene. The company where I work started a new wellness campaign and a part of what the company offered employees was a subsidized membership at Curves. I still wasnt interested until the lady I carpool to work with said she had joined and did I want to check it out. Out of courtesy to my friend and because I have trouble saying no, I agreed to accompany her to her next workout.

When I first walked through Curves door, I felt at home. Everyone greeted us and introduced themselves throughout the introductory workout I was given. I was so impressed with how easy the machines were to master and how individualized each members workout was with the little key-in-the-machine mechanism. Plus, I was told about the various self-motivational programs the Curves manager had in place"a weight loss challenge, a star on the wall for showing up three times a week all month, a walking group, a Saturday aerobics group, etc. Well, I was sold and signed up the next day and have my star on the wall each month for regular attendance.

What was and continues to be the best benefit for my going to Curves is the friendships I have made with women from all walks of life. One of those ladies, and shes actually one of the Curves employees, took a Saturday noon to meet me for lunch to share what she knows about retirement and give me helpful hints about the Medicare and Social Security process. In fact (and heres the amazing part of my story), because of the encouragement of Curves members, I have taken the giant step and announced that I am going to the next phases of my life"RETIREMENT and RELOCATION. The big R & R that does not mean sitting down and doing nothing, it means getting on with my life and living out my dreams!

Thank you Curves!
