My Story
Hi,
I'm Lucy! Not only am I a Curves member, but I'm also a Weight Watcher's member. Being overweight most of my life, I knew I needed to do something to change that. I tried many things over the years to do that. Diet, exercise, etc. Including the so-called Miracle Diet. Where you could eat anything you wanted, even junk food, as long as you took a pill 3 times a day! It sounded simple until I ended up in the hospital with heart failure and almost died! In 1999, I married my husband. Seven weeks later, I was injured in a car accident, and almost died again! You see, I was hit by a drunk, uninsured, and unlicensed driver. The dashboard of my car collapsed and crushed my right foot. A pretty important appendage for someone who drives a schoolbus for a living. My foot had to be reconstructed. For a while, doctors were saying I might not walk again! It took 4 months, but I can walk. But, I'm now disabled! During the 4 months, I was off my feet, I heard my husband describe me as his two-ton wife. Every overweight person I'm sure has heard unkind words directed at them from time to time. But, this was different! This coming from someone who I have to live with! Worse yet, he's overweight too! Anyway, it was that comment that made me join Weight Watcher's. But, even to this day, my husband doesn't know I joined! Because Weight Watcher's is a secret, I had to pay for it myself. But, that became harder to do, when I declared bankruptcy in 2005. No credit cards! So, I started using my debit card to pay. About that same time, Mastercard was running a contest where every time someone used a Mastercard, they were entered into a contest to win a "Home for the Holidays." My debit card IS A MASTERCARD! So, I used it to pay for Weight Watchers. Well, you guessed it, I won! $350,000.00 to be exact! You know enough to buy a home. I already have a home, but I put the money to good use. One of the many things I did with the money was to join Curves. Another secret from my husband! I'm still disabled. But, I consider myself amazing. Because, I choose to never give up! Another thing I brought with my winnings was a new bicycle. I love to ride. I was glad to learn that after my accident, that I still could ride a bike! I have even rode my bike, to both Weight Watcher's and Curves! And it's great exercise! Exercise is something, that I didn't think, I could ever do with my injury. We all know that, exercise and losing weight go hand and hand. Just like Weight Watcher's and Curves, go hand and hand! Weight Watcher's and Curve's are important to me. And, by not giving up, I've lost over 100 lbs, I can walk, even though I'm disabled, and I won a lot of money.
