My Story
It all started 30 years ago, I had my first child and gained 50 pounds. Of course you lose some, but never all of the weight. Over the next 6 years I had 3 more children and kept gaining weight, until 7 years ago when I realized I needed to lose 100 pounds. I joined curves and started my journey. At that time I lost about 50 pounds, but 2 years later I injured my knee and had to have surgery. It was very painful and I stopped working out. I was told I would need both my knees replaced, but that I was too young for them to do it at that time. Working out was painful, in fact, just moving was painful. I felt like I was waiting 10 years to have my life back. I gained 100 pounds and was wearing a size 22. I didn't want to know how much I weighed, but knew that as soon as they could replace my knees I would be back on the right track. The more weight I gained the more my knees hurt, the more my knees hurt the more weight I gained. It was a cycle I couldn't control and I wanted so badly to get my life back, but didn't know how to do that.
Two years ago I walked into curves again and I did just that (I got my life back). Because of the way the machines work I could do the workout with very little pain. The more I worked out the less the pain was and the stronger I became (I have muscles I never knew I had). I have lost 51 pounds, 42.25 inches and 33.47 pounds of body fat. My journey is far from over, but with curves I will make it to the end pain free and I will lose all of the weight this time. My knee issues haven't gone away, but because of curves I can wait a little longer for that knee replacement.
This year I've gone on hikes with my husband, in fact we walk 3 miles together everyday (before I go to curves). The new smart equipment has helped me move my workout up to a new level and I will continue to get stronger. Curves will always be a part of my life.
