My Story
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004. I could not walk, drive or bend down for many months, because I was numb from my waist down. My doctor encourages exercise, and I was walking some, but not on a regular schedule. I read an article in diane Magazine about a lady with MS and how Curves had helped her. I started working out at Curves in September of 2008, but was still eating whatever I wanted. My mind set was: I can eat what I want and how much I want since I'm working out. As a result, I gained another eight pounds. Our local Curves started a contest in June. It was just the motivation I needed to get me on the right track to success. To enter the contest, you had to have a partner, and be weighed and measured by close of business on the 1st of June. The winners would be the team that loses the most pounds and inches combined. I gave up cookies and sugar for the past month. I am making healthier choices, recording my calorie intake, and work out five times a week. I have found that by keeping a food journal, I am more aware of what I eat. I have lost 16 pounds and 14 inches. Even though we are competing against other teams, we still pray for each other, encourage each other, support each other, love each other and help each other in every way we can. Win or lose the contest, I am still a winner because I am a loser, and proud of it! My husband tells me I am looking like my old self again, and to me, that is the greatest news. Well, being able to walk and feeling great is at the top of the list too. Curves Smart has given me back my life and I'm thankful for that. I am also thankful for the Mexia Curves owner, Mollie McCoslin, for getting me out of the house and back into shape.
God Bless You & Curves,
Robin
