My Story
In 1996, I had a stroke and it resulted in weakness in my right arm and right leg. I had a MRI and the stroke signs were there.
I have five children, one who lives in England, two in Oregon, one in Huntington Beach and one about 60 miles north of me. Every time one of them came to visit, they noticed many changes in my appearance, energy level, speech, etc. No doctor put together all the symptoms which were later diagnosed as Parkinson's Disease.
I decided to join Curves to regain some strength on my right side. I really pushed myself to make a commitment to go at least three times a week. At first I could not use three machines because my legs were so weak. With the help of their wonderful and caring staff, in a couple of months I noticed that I was able to use another machine and soon after I could use all the machines without their help.
People talk about how Curves has helped them loose weight but I want to let people know that it also helps with regaining strength in weak areas. Of course, you have to do your part and go several times a week in order to see and feel the results and it is so worth it.
Today I am an eight-one (almost eight-two) year old woman with over 550 Curves visits heading for a complete knee replacement in September and feel it is so important to keep up my Curves exercise to prepare myself for the surgery.
Thanks again Curves staff for the encouragement and friendship.
