My Story
My name is Barbara M. I would like to nominate my daughter, Carrie, as an amazing member.
We both joined Curves in March 2004, after being recommended to do so by our family physician. We were both in need of exercise but for very different reasons.
In my case, I am overweight and on the verge of being diabetic. But for Carrie, it was quite a different story. She has a number of mental health (eg., epilepsy, schizophrenia) and medical (eg., removal of 80% of her bowel in 2000, chronic back pain) issues and has been hospitalized frequently since 1994. We both really needed help and found it at our local Curves.
Because she is still quite young, it is almost as if she has become our franchise mascot. Many of the ladies know Carries problems and absolutely adore her. If she is not there with me, they will always ask about her. She is very crafty and has sold some of her ceramic pieces to the ladies. Whenever we travel, she always wears her Curves shirts and this frequently is a conversation-opener. She is an avid Curves promoter. We have both managed to alleviate some of our problems because of Curves and have made many wonderful friends in the process. She is my biggest booster and even though I am still overweight, she always tells me how good I look and how proud she is of me. In reality, it is I who am so very proud of her.
The photograph was taken just before we participated in our Curves Big Bike for Heart and Stroke ride in June of this year.
