My Story
Exercise, yuck! That was my attitude toward going to any type of gym, class or program. I had decided that I was fine the way I was, Im healthy, Im just big boned, Grandmas are supposed to be cuddly! You know, all the phrases we use to give ourselves permission to stay the way we are.
Then I had coffee with a friend whom I had shared lots of cookies with but whom I had not seen in a year or so and she looked amazing! She told me about Curves and I started to give it some serious thought.
I joined this club in July of 2006 weighing in at a nice round number of 215 lbs! I was delighted to see the first ten pounds melt off. (Well, actually it took a bit of work and sweat, but they did come off!) I thought that if it was this easy, I could relax a bit, so I did. My enthusiasm fell and I started coming to Curves rather infrequently. To say the least, my pounds did not continue the melting process!
Then last spring I decided it was time to get serious about this exercise " weight loss thing and so I started with a healthy eating program and I also made a decision to be here at Curves a minimum of three times a week. I try for five, but have usually been able to make three.
This is such a positive, encouraging, and happy place to be. We come in all shapes, sizes and ages and I just love the acceptance that is here.
Its great to get such positive affirmation on this journey from my family and friends.
I have almost reached my target weight, but I know that with continued work here at Curves and a close eye on the type and amount of food consumed, I will not only reach it but maintain it as well!
My energy levels have increased; my clothing sizes have decreased; and the aches and pains in my legs and ankles have almost ceased!
