My Story
in april of 2006 my husband suffered a brain hemorrhage, and was hospitalized for months. i would go see him after working full time hours, and stayed with him until late at night. it was an extremely rough road. i, of course was not taking very good care of myself.

i wasn't eating right, getting any exercise, or putting any time aside for just me. i was taking care of my husband, and going to work. as caretakers sometimes we ignore the fact that we need to be taken care of as well.

at a job related conference i met a gentleman (i'll identify as D.S.) who facilitated a workshop on how to maintain good health. D.S owned his own gym, and was a personal fitness coach. after his workshop i introduced myself to him, and he agreed to take me on as a client. he was tough, but i must say that without him i would have continued on the path of an unhealthy lifestyle instead of a healthy one.

one of the stipulations of his taking me on as a client was that i had to join a gym, or fitness club. i knew exactly where i had to go. i had to go the Curves that was two blocks away from where i lived that i had passed on my way home every day for the past two years.

i remember a year earlier stopping in Curves one day with the intention of joining, and liked what i saw. i liked the concept of the curcuit, and most importantly the friendly helpful trainers, and extremely important, the music! i am an avid music listener, (there's not much i do without music) needless to say that solidified my decision to join.

i immediately joined Curves, and i have treated it like a second job ever since. i make sure i go at least three times a week. i, and many of my friends, and co-workers, have seen a difference in my weight. i certainly have noticed a significant change in my health. i am eating healthier, incorporating more fish, and vegetables in my diet, and drinking lots of water.

I always say that Curves saved my life! my journey has never been about fashion. my journey has never been about fitting into certain clothes. my journey has never been about looking good for a special occasion. however, my journey has been about maintaing a healthy lifestyle. with Curves i am accomplishing that.

to me, healthy is about making positive changes to your life, keeping a healty outlook on life, and more importantly, loving yourself. being healthy is a way of life that demands you to be proactive, present, and proud.

Curves lends an opportunity for any woman to take charge of her life by mentoring, being mentored, meeting new friends, developing relationships, and just plain having a good time while exercising.

i have met some wonderful people at Curves, and i plan to continue treating it like a second job. thank God for Curves! i owe being/staying healthy to myself, and i owe it to those i love.

i no longer have my husband to care for because he never recovered from his brain hemorrahage. he died from his illnes three months after he was hospitalized, but i am still motivated to take care of myself, and i consider myself one sexy, sassy, healthy widow!
keep on Curvin' ladies!
