My Story
This is the second time that I have been a member of Curves. I was a member from 2003 - 2005 in Medina, NY. I then relocated to TX and didn't have the time to exercise because of a new job, new city and new schools. I had all of the typical excuses that everyone has when they aren't ready to do anything to help themselves. I drove past the Curves in Bulverde one day and said, I should go in there because I use to love working out there. Of course I didn't that day but I did on August 1, 2007. After being there for just one day, it made me realize how much I missed all the companionship that you get at a Curves and all the new friends that you meet along the way.
My weight loss journey has had a lot of ups and downs. On the scale and around my waste. When I joined Curves in 2007, I made my mind up that I needed to loose weight. When I weighed in it almost made me cry. How could I weight that much I kept thinking to myself? How could I? So, I worked out everyday, and I met new friends but didn't stop eating all the junk that we buy each and everyday at the grocery store. It then hit me one day after loosing about 30 pounds in 9 months and then gaining most of it back in 3 months. What do I need to change about me? Here is what I came up with.
I needed to refocus myself away from food when I became bored or stressed. All I did was eat and I didn't want surgery because it is too invasive for me and I knew that I could just do it on my own. So, I needed to find a way to refocus myself. What I decided to try was exercise. All of a sudden the weight started coming off. I got more motivated and I then started to feel better and started to eat things that were better for me along with smaller portion sizes. I worked out every day at Curves and also did some walking on my lunch at work. I was realy heavy so the weight came off pretty quick some months. Other months not so quick. I am now smaller than I was in high school (about 4 sizes smaller). Who would have thought?
I have also set challenges up for myself to do 3 news things each year. Things that I could never do before. This year I have already went learned how to climb a fence, I am learning how to jog and I haven't figure out what the 3rd thing will be. It might be a 1/2 marathon if I can get this jogging down. Who knows? Who knows what I will do next? Every day is a new adventure for me and it is so much fun!
I am still working towards my goal weight. Hopefully it will come within the next few months. I am still trying hard and striving to hit that goal. It is all in the motivation and support from Curves that I am able to do all of this. Thanks Curves staff and all my friends at Curves for all of your support!
Let's keep striving to reach all of our goals! We can do it! So I know that are you wondering how much weight I lost? I have lost a total of 134 pounds. Believe it or not!
