My Story
Here is my story.
When I lost my job in 2003, depression set in and my weight shot up drastically. My self esteem was non existant. In the end of 2005 I was at my all time high. With a family history of health problems, I knew I was in trouble. I needed to do something to save myself. I have to tell you that working out was not in the plan. Just moving around and walking through the house was challenging some days.
I started a weight loss program in the beginning of 2006. The scale was reading 375.6 lbs. I was shocked! When the weight started coming off, I was actually able to think about working out.
When my I hit a plateau in my weight loss, my cousin talked me into giving Curves a trial run. I had lost about 100 lbs at this time and thought, "Why don't I give it a shot? What have I got to lose?" I joined Curves in August of 2007 and I have never looked back. What have I got to lose?? Curves got me through my plateau and onward to losing 190 lbs total so far. I work out 4 days a week and actually look forward to going to workout. I have gone from not being able to do crunches to doing 600 in sets of 50 after every workout. If you would have told me that I would be doing this a couple of years ago, I would have laughed.
The owner, Janice, has been so supportive and a regular cheerleader along my journey. I love the friends that I have made at Curves and they tell me what an inspiration I am. I still have about 40 lbs left to lose, but Curves will help me reach that goal.
Curves has helped give me back my self esteem. Weight loss is a lifetime journey and I'm proud to say that Curves is part of that journey.
